Journal

Love is Real, real is Love....
Oct 14, 2007
it's been a long time since i've journaled. a lot has been going on. i am sooo happy about the release of "Darbytown Road", it is so meaningful to me. the CD is, of course, dedicated to my Mom, who has been the sophia loren/lucille ball sunshine of my life. i love it. i am hoping my children will have her every bit of her spunk and spontaneity. never a dull moment!!

i just did a radio interview in williamsburg, VA, and it was fun....but i have to admit, hard!! i had to monologue for a while after singing some of my songs, and i couldnt say "um" or "uh"....i never knew how much i say say those 2 words!! ugh!! difficult!! but by the end, we were all laughing and i was being my wacky, irreverent self. always honest. painfully so!!

i also want to mention a french film i saw recently titled "lady chatterley", a 2007 remake of the original film after the scandalous book, "lady chatterley's lover". this is worth seeing. it's long, almost 3 hours, in fact....but..its beautiful, sensuous, and passionate. think of corsets coming undone and hands clasping to feel that which has not been felt.........so good. worth a look. definitely.

i also just went to the Waterford fair, which is such an amazing event in my hometown, where history comes alive, literally. its not uptight like williamsburg in its colonialism, its fun and educational and a bit ruckous, i must say. in the best way! after all, "Virginia is for Lovers".(what an awesome motto! holy shit! maybe thomas jefferson made it up, he oughta know...)

what i am looking forward to now is going back to La Crosse, Wisconsin (another great blues town on the Mississipi River..) to play with Rob Gonzales. i had the honor of opening for Rob at his concert at Viterbo University in La Crosse, and it was such a sweet experience. in fact, i have to say, though it makes no sense at all, i am homesick for La Crosse. it is small, but so charming, and comforting. as i was driving to meet Rob at a local restaurant after the show, a white horse drawn buggy pulled out in front of me and led me to my parking spot...i can only imagine what it must be like in the snow!! but yikes. 20 degrees? hmmmm. i don't know about that. just looking forward to seeing those guys. they are near and dear to my heart... :)

OK blah blah blah i've gone on too long. whatever. here's the point: go buy my CD, dammit! you'll love it. i am very proud of it, and i think you will find your own story interlaced within it...
i think we are all the same, and yet each of us very, very unique....but it is the refuge we find in each other where we find the Divine.....

love you all, very much. in spite of all our flaws, our foolishness, our selfishness....mine included. we are (i am) learning. that's life. C'est la vie!!!

much love,

april :)

everything's gonna change..

so the word for the day is "HOT"... holy shit. i'm here in nashville where it's been 99-100 degrees for the past 5 days in a row. i'm not a big fan of heat. i love the beach and the sun, but i'd much rather be in falling snow than pushing through waves of soupy heat. ugh. and we've got 4-5 days more of this 100 degree weather! lovely. hmmmmm....and what is that phrase that all those conservatives call a myth?? oh, yes..... GLOBAL WARMING. i'm sure there's no connection.....:)

so let me just say, i am sooooo looking forward to fall. not only is my "Darbytown Road" CD release date coming up, but it's my favorite time of year. it's that leafy golden fiery time of sweet caramel apples and the smell of burning fires and clouds like thoughts filled with rain and breaks of sun....and halloween and masquerades we all play in costumes of our alternate selves......good god, i'm getting too deep. so sorry....onward we go....

i have been thinking about you guys, only about 100 times everyday. no big deal. i can't wait for you to hear my CD!!!! i want to sing every song for you, personally... i will find a way. tour dates will come! i am now holding the CD in my hands, and i am so proud of both the visual beauty of it (hellooo, me and kim collins) and the messages of the songs. i am SO PROUD. we will be selling some pre-release Darbytown CDs at my upcoming gigs, AND soon it can be downloaded from www.circlebackmusic.com!! how awesome is that?? i cannot wait for you to hear it!

so now it's time for me to chill out with Jenna, my dog, who is the Zen master....she does not worry, she is happy. she lives in the moment. she does not overthink. she loves unconditionally. and abundantly.

i love you guys, so much, and i am thankful for each and every one of you. i'll see you soon...

hey guys. just wanted to check in, and give you an update...

things have been so busy lately, its been hard to catch my breath... but i'm overjoyed! i can now say the darbytown road CD has actually been sent to the manufacturer, so all is underway... the release date for the project has been set for september 18th! in that time, we will be building up on a number of levels toward the september release. i am so thankful for the circle back music team and their work.

i am also trying to shed a few pounds, ahem. the cork has officially been put on the wine bottle for a while and the bread and pasta have been tragically removed from my diet!! ugh. but, i will do what i need to do. i guess its all about balance. i just know i want to be at my best! i am enjoying the workouts, too, with my trainer, annie. she is awesome!! and very good at kicking my butt. :)

i am getting some vacation time at the end of the month, and i can't wait! (birthday time!) i get to go to the beach with my mom, sister laurie and little marshall. i'm looking forward to it. there are wild ponies there, its so amazing. they sometimes swim outside the lines of their habitat and can be right there beside you on the beach!! how awesome is that? it will be nice to get away...

hope you all are doing well. thank you for your affection and support!!
stay tuned for more details to come regarding the darbytown CD!!!

lots of love,

april :)
